The Glossier Skywash

Sunday, April 05, 2020 Glossier, 13 Floral St, Covent Garden, London, UK

The Skywash is Glossier's latest product release, which I am going to review today. We're so used to brands bringing out products that are just a different variety of something already on the market, so this launch really excited me because I had never seen anything like it before. A matte liquid eyeshadow is something that sounds so simple, but I had never seen one anywhere before. Until Glossier finally transformed my life with their Skywash.

I love a liquid eyeshadow on an applicator and have tried many over the years from the likes of NYX, No.7 and even Glossier themselves, but they always have a shimmery finish, which isn't the easiest to apply. I will try and concentrate the product on the lid but always somehow have glitter everywhere. This is why I had always fancied a matte option, which I could just swipe and blend in all over the lid and crease without fuss.

The Glossier Skywash allows us to do just that. By taking the applicator and swiping a little in the centre of the eye, you can then use a finger to blend it out. I love how buildable the formula is, meaning you can add a little bit for a light wash, or keep blending it in for stronger pigmentation.

There's a whole seven shades to choose from in the Skywash range, so I think there is something for everyone's skin tone or preference. Personally, I prefer a warm toned eyeshadow, so I was really spoilt for choice between the three orange-toned shades. I stood for ages in Glossier's London store swatching them all! I was torn between Palm, a peachy shade, Valley, a true orange and Terra, a darker, more terracotta shade.

All of them looked right up my street, however I settled on Valley. This seemed like the perfect shade for me to try because it didn't seem to light or too dark. I liked Terra but I was worried it would be a bit too much and too dark for me! I figured I could keep building up Valley if I wanted a darker look. Other shades in the collection include Pebble, which is a gorgeous neutral beige tone, and Pool, a blue that is a real 70s throwback.

I absolutely love how easy the Skywash is to apply. My favourite thing about this sort of product is that it feels so quick and easy to use - definitely a travel staple. You can blend in other eyeshadows (I reach for the oranges in the ABH Modern Renaissance) and almost use it as a base product; as long as you give it a little time to try, it doesn't budge at all which I was really impressed by. As a side note, you also don't need eye primer when using it - the first time I tried it, I used eye primer on one eye to see if it made a difference, and it did not.

Overall I am really impressed with the Glossier Skywash and it has become one of my favourite products of theirs. I am really excited about Glossier as a brand right now and hope for more releases just as good as this one! Do you fancy trying out the Skywash?
