Change And Continuity.
Sunday, September 30, 2018
My history teacher seems to have drilled AO1 of my history coursework 'change and continuity' so much that it has become the title of this post, and I think that is because I can apply it to my thoughts on blogging and the direction I want my blog to take, not just my history work.
You may (or may not) have noticed, that I've probably just had the biggest break from blogging since I started it properly over three and a half years ago. At least, it feels that way. I certainly haven't neglected my blog in the slightest - I've thought about it every single day, and thought about what to post next. Nothing ever felt right apart from an explanation of sorts about why I have been so MIA with my blog this month.
Where have I been? In a literal sense, I feel like I've been constantly on the go the past few weeks and have had no time to breathe, let alone take it all in. Between going back to college and visiting my final few universities, it has definitely been an overwhelmingly busy time for me.
In the space of a week, I went to London to see UCL, a uni that has definitely become a firm favourite of mine, then to Cambridge with college which was a long two days but included an incredibly fun punting experience, and finally to visit the University of York. Within this week I didn't even get a chance to sit down at my laptop, let alone write any blog posts, and since then one thing after another seemed to build up.
But at the same time, while I've lacked the time to post, I really didn't have the motivation to write any blog posts either. I've felt like this for the longest time, and being busy finally gave myself the excuse to have a break.
I've spent my break considering why I started blogging in the first place, and what I want to get out of it four years on. I thought about the content I do like posting, and what isn't working so much for me anymore. I love writing beauty posts, don't get me wrong, but I want to make my own spin on them and make them a bit more creative. I would love to write more about fashion, I love reading fashion posts - they're probably at least half of what I read, however I have never been one of those bloggers who can do much of an outfit of the day. I just have never felt very comfortable in front of the camera, so I'm trying to work around that with different styles of photography and my own take on fashion posts.
And finally, I want to write more about my life. As I mentioned that I am crazy busy right now with my uni application, I would love to share how it is going on my blog and tips for those of you who will be going through it too soon. Studying and university planning is a huge part of my life right now so I feel it's only right to share it over on here.
September was definitely one of the busiest and most overwhelming months for me, and I realised that while I'm doing my A-Levels, this is going to happen a lot over the next year. I am going to have to sacrifice sacred blogging time for revision and uni-related stress, and that is going to take some getting used to. I'm glad I took my break - I needed to realise why I do it and continue with it, but I also needed to realise that it is okay for me to take a break. Because my blog is somehow still getting views when I haven't posted in a while - maybe not as much as usual, but not nothing either. It's still here when I come back to it!
This year is going to be full of pressure for me, so I know every so often I will have to be fair to myself and take a break. So, I want to make sure that when I am blogging, I am making content I love and content I enjoy, which involves both change and continuity. I want to continue writing posts I love but add a few different topics and ideas into the mix, making my blog more me than ever.
I've written up a whole list of ideas, a couple already written up and I can't wait to get back to it. But writing is only half of blogging. I love reading posts too, so please make sure to comment sharing your latest post, and what direction you would like to take your blog in. I'm so excited to be back and I hope you enjoy my new content over the next couple of months, thank you so much for being a part of this.

August In Review
Thursday, September 06, 2018
August has been a long month. I'm not even sure why, but it really does feel like ages since the start of it, to the point that when I started writing this I couldn't even remember what I was loving at the start of the month.
THE MAKEUP REVOLUTION X SOPH LIPSTICK -
As I mentioned in my Revolution first impressions, I fell in love with the Makeup Revolution X Soph lipstick in the shade Fudge, and have been loving it ever since. It is not only a gorgeous brown nude but has the loveliest creamy formula that feels amazing and actually lasts longer than you would expect!
WATCHING THE BOLD TYPE SEASON 2 -
Getting Amazon Prime this month I settled into catching up with The Bold Type. I wrote a few months ago about how much I loved the first season, so I was, of course, excited to watch the next instalment. I did find that the show, about three girls working for a magazine called Scarlett, was so cringe at times, but I still found it so addictive, possibly because the magazine industry is a dream for me to work in. However I ended up finding that Sutton was the only character of the three girls I actually liked, Jane and Kat got super irritating and I disagreed with the girls' decisions many a time.
A COUPLE OF CINEMA TRIPS -
I went to see Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again! at the start of the month which was so much fun, it was really a feel-good film that guarantees laughter. Believe it or not, I prefer it over the first one by a lot, and have had the soundtrack on repeat the past month.
I also went to see Christopher Robin, the new Disney about Winnie The Pooh and it was such an adorable film, I really loved it. There were so many heartwarming scenes - for me it doesn't get any better than Winnie The Pooh being desperate for a red balloon, and then the rest of the film Christopher Robin reminding him there is more to life than balloons, with Pooh seeming rather confused by this statement. Such a cute film that I really recommend.
GOING TO FRIENDSFEST -
Going to Friendsfest was definitely one of the most fun things I did this August. As a huge lover of Friends, it would come as no surprise that I made sure to get tickets to Friendsfest this year and I would definitely recommend visiting if you are as big of a fan as I am, the memorabilia they have from the show such as props the cast actually used were amazing.
Chillin' in Mon's kitchen! Exploring the Friends' apartments was such an amazing experience. Monica's was my favourite for photo opportunities as it is so iconic but my personal favourite was Joey & Chandler's - there was even a Hugsy to cuddle!
What have you been up to this month?
