Maybelline X Gigi Hadid 'Erin' Lipstick

Monday, December 04, 2017

I was so excited to find out Maybelline were launching a collection with Gigi Hadid, so when looking at the gorgeous lipstick swatches on their Instagram, I was even more thrilled to find out one of the shades, is actually called 'Erin'! Now, how could I possibly pass on a lipstick with the same name as me? After scouring my local Boots and Superdrug stores for it never to be in stock, I ended up ordering it at Boots online and was really looking forward to trying it.

The shade itself is so pretty, upon swatching it it appears a mauve toned nude, but on the lips it's a bit darker. The first day I tried it I was actually wearing a burgundy sweater (when am I ever not wearing burgundy though) and it matched perfectly with it, so I'd describe it a burgundy toned nude at a push. I had tried Maybelline lipsticks before and not found them overly pigmented so I was very glad that the lipstick is more pigmented than I was expecting.

The formula of the lipstick is also worthy of praise, it feels so comfortable on the lips and lasts really well. I was really pleased with the quality of this Maybelline lipstick and can't complain at all about the formula, which is really promising. The shape the lipstick is (at the moment, anyway) is a lovely curve which makes application so much easier, it really manages to cover your lips in one quick swipe.

I also purchased the matching 'Erin' lipliner to go along with the lipstick, of course - I had to get the whole Erin set! Upon first looking at it, I was really happy it was a twist-up lip pencil since I always find them such a pain to sharpen.

Gigi recommends applying lip liner after your lipstick, but the first time I tried them I wanted to see how the lip liner applied on it's own too, so I went and applied it first as I usually would. Well, I can't tell you how impressed I was with it on application! It glided on like an absolute dream - I guess I'm used to my MAC lip pencils which I love but you really do have to work onto your lips. I had to instead by really light handed so I didn't apply too much! It was so pigmented and easy to apply, I fell in love straight away. I'm so tempted to buy her other lip liners too just because how much I love it.

Another thing I must mention is how much I love their packaging of the lipsticks. I've seen a lot of bloggers complaining that her palettes appear a bit childish looking, but I think the lipsticks look really chic and stand out in their nude packaging, with the Gigi Hadid name in holographic print. Maybe you are paying more for the Gigi name (or in my case, my own name, since that was why I wanted to buy the lipstick in the first place) but the products are so good it is worth it.

What do you think of Maybelline's collection with Gigi Hadid? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
