Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick Set

Wednesday, December 06, 2017

A brand I have always been super disappointed that we don't sell in UK stores, is Anastasia Beverly Hills. When I spotted a gift set for this season featuring three mini liquid lipsticks on Cult Beauty, I really wanted to try them and so was very lucky to receive them for my birthday.

The set includes three shades, two of which are exclusives to the set. In general, the shades are darker, vampier shades which are great this time of year, or if that is what you are into all year round! I don't own so many shades like these, as I always stick to rosy nude hues, so it was really fun to try something a little different.

The first shade, exclusive to the set, is the shade Hudson. This is the lighter of the trio, I'd say not too dissimilar to MAC's Velvet Teddy (I feel like I compare shades to that all the time because it's my favourite lipstick). This is the one which I feel like I'll end up getting the most wear out of, seen as I've worn it plenty of times already, and it's a really nice everyday shade.

The other exclusive shade is called 'Bittersweet' and is much darker. The website describes it as 'deep cocoa meets mauve' but I would say it's more of a chocolate shade than mauve. It's quite vampy and at first when I applied it I was a little worried it was too dark for my really pale skin, however, I got used to it and actually liked how it looked.

The final shade the set, not a limited product, is the shade Dazed, which I actually love! It's a gorgeous rusty red which in a shop I probably wouldn't even approach to swatch, but I'm so glad I have it because I think a shade like this is an essential in any lipstick collection. I got quite a few compliments wearing this which was totally unexpected, I reckon it's just because it's so different but it worked! I also feel so festive with how red toned it is too which is always a bonus this time of year!

The formula of the product was certainly something I wanted to check out to see if it performed as well as my other high-end liquid lipsticks. They're definitely long lasting, which is a major pro because they are darker shades so you want them to last a while. I would advise keeping it in your bag if you're out all day because I have a feeling they become a little patchy and reapplying may be necessary, but they do feel lovely on and aren't at all drying, to say how matte they are.

I think the packaging of them is stunning too! They are so cute at the mini size, which makes them really travel-friendly, handy if you need to reapply. I love the little rose gold and black box it comes in too, I've kept them in there until I find somewhere to put them in my makeup storage because I think it's really pretty!

The only concern I have is the applicator doesn't allow me to have the neatest application. Especially with the darker shades, it can be a bit tricky, the applicator is quite rounded which personally I find more difficult than my flat ended Too Faced lipstick.

I think this is such a cute little set from Anastasia Beverly Hills and I'm not disappointed with my first products I tried from their brand! I hope to buy a full-sized lipstick when I'm in a Sephora on holiday next year - if you own some I'd love to hear your favourite shade!
