My 5 Favourite Pixar Films

Saturday, August 27, 2016

Something you may or may not know about me: some of my favourite films are Disney Pixar. I'm not a huge film lover, but the fact that I can list the year every single Pixar film was released in order is a skill I'm fairly proud of. Therefore I thought why not share my 5 favourite Pixar films with you!

Monsters Inc:
Monsters Inc is probably up in my top 3 favourite films ever, which may be considered silly because it's an animated film, but it was one of the first films I ever loved, and it still makes me happy to this day. The characters of Sully and Mike are so loveable, Boo is so cute and the ending will still always bring a tear to my eye, even though I've watched it countless times. Monsters Inc is a Pixar classic and if you haven't watched it already, go and watch it right now.

Finding Nemo & Finding Dory:
I count this as one because unlike most sequels, I enjoyed Finding Dory just as much as the original. Finding Dory made me cry (which isn't hard to be honest as I cry a lot at movies) and laugh lots, so although I've only watched it once, when it comes out on DVD I think I'll watch it many times to come.  I love the storyline of the original Finding Nemo; the animation of it is so impressive as well.

The Incredibles:
I think one of the reasons I like the incredibles so much is that Violet reminds me of myself. She's got long dark hair and she's shy, but throughout the movie she becomes more confident and less afraid to be herself. I really like the meaning behind the film and there are several lines throughout it that make me laugh, especially "Coincidence? I think not!"

Up:
Up has you crying within the first 10 minutes of the film, and for that alone it's worth the watch. Several of the Pixar films I mentioned have wonderful soundtracks but Up has my favourite. It's an emotional story, and Russell's character makes me giggle.

Inside Out:
Inside Out was never stand out hilarious and it didn't make me cry, but it made it into my top 5 because I loved its concept. The idea of the core memories and the islands who really determine the person you are, alongside the different emotions. The storyline and idea behind those are why I like this film so much.

I would love to hear what your favourite Pixar movies are in the comments!

Top 3 Most Used Beauty Products

Thursday, August 25, 2016

There are certain beauty products that no matter what, I will always go back to and use everyday. Today I've decided to round up the 3 beauty products I use the most. It's been hard to narrow it down to three but I just about managed - these are 3 makeup products I simply couldn't live without!

L'Oreal Touche Magique Concealer:
I've tried a few concealers but this one is by far my favourite, it matches my skin tone perfectly because it isn't too orange toned. I use this all the time now to cover blemishes and it conceals them really well.

Benefit's Gimme Brow:
Benefit's Gimme Brow is a product I have recently discovered when I got a free sample in Glamour magazine. It keeps my brows in place all day, while also providing volume. I'm thinking of buying the full size when it runs out because I'm really impressed with it!

Maybelline Baby Lips:
These are my holy grail lip balms - I can't stand dry lips so I can't live without them! I will always have a baby lips in my bag wherever I go. My favourite shades are Too Cool, the clear Dr Rescue balm, and Coral Crave, again from the Dr Rescue collection but a coral tinted balm.

7 Affordable Blog Photo Props

Monday, August 22, 2016

Since photography is a huge part of blogging, today I thought I would write another post about it - this time dedicated to some affordable 'props' you can use to spruce up any blog photo.

Jewellery:
I keep a few rings by the side of where I take my blog photos and use them very often. You could pick up a set of rings from somewhere like New Look really cheap and they work wonders in blog photos - if I have a blank space that needs filling up in my flatlay I'll pop a ring in that area.

Magazines:
I started noticing magazines being used in blog photos, so I saved a couple and tried it out myself. It is really effective to bring texture to your photos, and you probably always have magazines lying around anyway!

Marble:
The marble background is probably my favourite blog photography prop of them all, and the best part it is - it's free! I've actually shared this tip already here because I love it so much, I just printed off a marble background from Google Images and it never fails!

Pretty Fabrics/clothes:
If you need to add some colour or texture to your photos, grab something like a pretty blouse or this tartan scarf I have used and it works really well. I know I'm going to be using the scarf a lot in my autumn posts because the colours of it scream autumn to me.

Makeup:
I am always getting my MAC lipsticks out for my flatlays, even if a blog post doesn't really concern them. They are pretty and small enough to fill blank space, so I'm often grabbing makeup - it doesn't help that I take blog photos right next to where I keep all my makeup.

Technology (eg. phones):
This one's always been a little tricky for me because I use my phone to take photos, but I like using gadgets such as my phone in photos, especially when the post is about blogging tips, just like this one.

Stationery:
If you're a stationery lover like me, you'll most likely have lots of cute pens and notebooks lying around! I love to use stationery in lifestyle posts especially.

What props do you like to use in your blog photos? I am always looking for new ways to improve my flatlays!

3 Summer Jackets

Thursday, August 18, 2016

Summer isn't my favourite season, but one thing I love about it is being able to go out without needing to wear heavy coats. This summer I have been enjoying wearing 3 lovely lightweight jackets, all of which I've purchased from New Look.

The Black Bomber Jacket
These jackets are all the rage this year, and I too gave into this trend. The black bomber jacket matches with anything and is perfect for when I need to wear a little more than a t-shirt on a summers day.

The Blazer Style Jacket
I bought this jacket a few months ago so although it's now unavailable in New Look, you can purchase a very similar jacket in Topshop here. My Jacket from New Look costed £25 and although it's not the best quality (getting it caught onto hangers in shops isn't the best look!) it's so comfortable to wear and matches with anything. It is not quite a blazer, it's a little looser fitted than your avarage one, but it still has that smart look and feel about it.

The Navy 'Scuba' Bomber Jacket
This jacket is similar to my black one, but not only is it navy, it is this 'scuba style' material. This makes it a bit thicker and I really like it. It also features a zip on the sleeve which I'm not that keen on but it is a nice detail. I don't really like the bomber jackets that look really shiny, so in this material it isn't and that's why I like it so much.

Also in the outfit:
Top | Hollister
Jeans | Hollister
What jackets have you been loving this season?

Beauty First Impressions

Saturday, August 13, 2016

Recently I have bought quite a few new beauty products and have decided to share my first impressions of them with you all. Some of the products I have wanted for ages so I can't wait to see if they live up to the hype.

MAC Lipstick - Velvet Teddy
I have wanted Velvet Teddy - the lipstick coined by so many bloggers as the perfect nude - for a really long time now, so I was really happy when my Auntie got it for me as a present. It really is the perfect brown toned nude, something I have been really enjoying lately rather than pink tones. It is a matte finish but not drying at all. This is definitely a must have for any lipstick lovers out there.

Makeup Revolution Iconic Lights and Contour Palette
I've spoken about how much I've been wanting to try the brand Makeup Revolution on my blog before, so I'm very excited that the first product I'm trying out from them is their contour palette. It comes with 4 beautiful highlight shades and 4 brown shades. The highlight shades I am so impressed with, they are more pigmented than any other powder highlights I've tried without being too in your face. The brown shades I'm not sure about using for contour yet because they are fairly warm toned, recently I've been using them as eyeshadow while I get used to them. The pans are huge and great quality so I really want to try more from Makeup Revolution now.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams - Stockholm and Zurich
Yes, I have tried the NYX lip creams before so I hope this isn't considered cheating a first impressions post, but the other day I picked up two new shades, in Stockholm and Zurich. I wanted a couple of slightly pinker toned nudes because my other two - Athens and Abu Dhabi, are really brown toned. I really like both these shades, particularly Zurich, and they feel amazing on the lips - like I'm not wearing any at all.

NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow - Day Club
I have found that NYX eyeshadows are really pigmented and this one is no exception. Day Club is a shimmery gold toned brown. I was thinking of picking up a matte brown when I went to the NYX counter, but after spotting this stunning shade which I don't own anything quite like, I couldn't resist, espeically for £3.50.

What beauty products have you recently purchased? I would love to hear in the comments!

5 Cities I Would Love To Visit

Thursday, August 11, 2016

There are so many places I would love to visit in the world, but today I thought I would narrow it down to 5 of my favourites and share them with you!

1. New York
New York is the one city I would love to visit the most in the world. The shops and sights sound and look amazing. I would love to visit the museums and go to see a show on broadway. I am really hoping to get to go there in the next couple of years!

2. Paris
I love the French language so I would naturally like to visit a French speaking city. I would like to visit Paris to go to the Eiffel tower and the shops look amazing there, although I would love to visit any part of France generally.

3. Rome
Rome looks like such a pretty city. I would love to visit Italy and the culture looks spectacular in Rome. Food wise Rome is perfect for me too, Italian restaurants are my favourites and I would love to eat some pizza and pasta actually in Italy!

4. London
Now I have visited London several times so I'm not sure whether this one counts, but I would love to go to London again. It's really lovely, especially when the weather is warm in somewhere like Hyde Park! The shops are fantastic too. I wish I lived closer to London, unfortunately it takes me over 3 hours to get there!

5. Los Angeles
Los Angeles is such a photogenic city - imagine the Instagram feed you could make while you're there! Of course, life isn't all about Instagram, I would love to go to the pier and iconic places such as the Hollywood walk of fame. Spending a sunset on a beach in Los Angeles also sounds like a dream.

*not my own photos, all found on We Heart It.

The 1975 I Like It When You Sleep... | Review

Tuesday, August 09, 2016

As I mentioned in my July favourites, recently I seem to have only been listening to one album non-stop - that is The 1975's (insanely long titled) I Like It When You Sleep Because You Are So Beautiful Yet So Unaware Of It.

I was really excited to get this album because I used to listen to the song The Sound, the first single from the album, all the time. After listening to a couple more tracks from the album on Spotify, I knew this was an album I needed to buy.

The album begins with the first track 'The 1975'. This is basically an intro to the album, similar to their first album. I don't really listen to this very often, but it is nice to have an intro to the album.

The first actual song on the album is Love Me - this is one of my favourites because I love the guitar riffs in it. Following Love Me is UGH! which has a similar sound to it. They work very well on the album next to each other. UGH isn't as exciting as Love Me and has more of an electro style - something present in a lot of The 1975's music.
A Change Of Heart is next, this is a lot more chilled out and relaxed compared to the other two and is a nice break; it's not my favourite though because I don't love the synth sounds after the chorus.

She's American is the fifth track on the album. If I had to pick one favourite off the whole album, I think I would have to choose She's American. It's an amazing song and it's so catchy I'm singing it for hours after I listen to it. My other favourites on the album include The Sound and This Must Be My Dream. I think these are my favourites because they are quite uplifting tunes.

I also love Somebody Else and Paris, two really chilled out songs. Nana is an acoustic style song, which is very different to the rest of the album. It's a contrast that I really like. There are a couple of tracks which don't feature much vocals, such as the title track. I thought these might be a little boring, and although I think I have to be in the mood for them, they are really impressively put together.

My only critisism of the album is the section of about four songs in the middle of the album between She's American and Somebody Else. I tend to skip these few songs, I'm not sure whether I just want to get to Somebody Else or I haven't given them a chance yet, but unlike the rest of the album I didn't fall in love them straight away.

I really like The 1975's latest album and I definitely recommend giving it a listen. I really like their 'aesthetic', the photos in the album booklet are really pretty and very handy in my blog photos, I may add! The 1975's sound is unique and one of a kind - if I was to hear one of their songs I would probably know it was theirs straight away, even if I had never listened to it.

If you have listened to this album let me know your thoughts in the comments!

The Truth About You Tag

Thursday, August 04, 2016

Recently one of my favourite blogging friends, Jade of Simply Jadey created a tag called 'The Truth About You'. Upon reading her post, I really wanted to answer the questions myself because they sounded really fun. There are 16 questions in all - 4 sections: 'about you', 'blogging', 'beauty' and 'random' with 4 questions in each.

About You:

1. How would you best describe yourself in three words?
I would describe myself as thoughtful, creative and caring.

2. What would you say is one of your biggest achievements so far?
Blogging is a big achievement for me, and something about blogging is that you're constantly achieving with it. Every lovely comment or milestone follower count I reach is a big achievement that I'm proud of.

3. What are some of your main hobbies?
Blogging, playing piano and drawing are probably my three main hobbies. Drawing for fun is something I'm trying to do more of, because the past year it has become work for school rather than something I want to do.

4. What would you say is one of your favourite qualities about yourself?
I like that I am self-motivated, I will go and do things like revision and homework without having to be nagged and I like that about myself.

Blogging:

1. What/who inspired you to start blogging?
I have loved writing for as long as I can remember and when I started reading blogs like Zoella, I thought it was something I would like to do too - I love the idea of people being interested in what I have to say! At the time of starting my blog I really wanted to be a journalist so I thought it may be good experience - nowadays I have no idea what I want to do! I discovered the website Blogger and eventually learned how to work it, and here I am today!

2.  What do you find to be the hardest part of blogging?
Constantly having ideas for blog posts is something I've always struggled with, I think that has to be the hardest part!

3. Who are some of your favourite teenage bloggers?
There are so many bloggers I have been loving recently that I just couldn't mention them all in this post! Meet Me In Melford, Simply Jadey, Blossom Of Hope, Emsi Rose, Olivia Redfern and Thrifty Vintage Fashion are just a few of them, and I must mention all of the #teenage team girls who's blogs are all amazing!

4. What is your main blogging goal for the rest of the year?
Something I have always struggled with is posting twice a week, every Monday and Thursday. I've been working on it for at least a year now but I really am going to try to keep it up!

Beauty:
1. If you could only own one specific type of makeup product what would it be and why?
Oooh this is such a difficult question! Probably concealer because it's an essential for me to use on a daily basis. However I don't know how I would cope without a lip product and I really would miss highlighters and brow products!

2. If you had your own beauty brand what would you name it and what would you sell?
Interesting question! I would call it Erin Cosmetics because I'm not feeling very creative at the moment! I would sell a huge range of highly pigmented eye shadows which are a cult favourite, and have a range of lipsticks too because they would be my favourite thing to design. Of course, everything would have copper/rose gold packaging!

3. What's your go to, everyday makeup look at the moment?
Recently I have been loving *attempting* contour and highlight, I also love copper and gold toned eyeshadows and matte lips - thanks to the NYX soft matte lip creams.

4.  Are you more of a high-street or high-end kinda gal?
As much as high-street products can be really good, I am certainly a high-end kind of girl! I think the quality of high-end products can be worth the price and I would rather buy one lovely high-end product rather than 3 not so good drugstore products for the same price!

Random:

1. If you created an animal, what features would it have?
It would have to be small, pretty quiet and elegant, like a butterfly. I am not an animal lover so I would like to create something like a butterfly - although I would like them to have the life expectancy of a tortoise because butterflies only live for about two weeks!

2. If you could possess one talent, what talent would it be?
I would like to have extraordinarily good sight because I don't have the best sight and I wish I didn't have to wear glasses at concerts. I'd love to have bad seats at a concert but still have an amazing view because of incredible vision! In Jade's answer of this question, she chose invisibility which I also have to agree with - you could travel the world and go to concerts for free!

3. Imagine you're hosting a special event - what 3 celebrities would you invite and why?
I would first of all invite Danny Jones of McFly because he is the one celebrity I would love to meet the most. I think he would be hilarious and he is so talented it's unbelievable. Then I think I would have to invite Harry Styles because who wouldn't want Harry Styles at your special event? My third person would be Ellie Goulding because I think she is amazing and I would love to have a good chat to her.

4. If money was no option when it comes to the lifestyle you want to lead, but if you could only
live in one OTHER country for the rest of your life, where would you live and why?

I think I would have to choose USA because in one country you can do so many things, you can go to the beach, shop in the city or even do something like skiing - I love how all the states are different unlike the UK which is so similar everywhere because it's so small!

Thank you for Jade and Leonie for creating this tag and I would love to hear your answers to some questions in the comments!
