March Favourites

Thursday, March 31, 2016

march favourites
Another month over, another favourites post! Today it's time for my March Favourites.

My first beauty favourite this month has been the Naked 2 Basics palette. It has 6 beautiful neutral matte shades and I have been using it so much recently. I especially love using the shade frisk all over the lid, and cover in the crease. This palette is definitely worth purchasing if you're unsure about buying one of the full naked palettes.

I have also been loving Benefit's highbeam. I have a small version because it came in a set, but I love it and I hope it doesn't run out too quick! I have been using it all the time this month because it has a lovely pink toned highlight and is so easy to apply with the brush applicator.

My final beauty favourite is my Ellie Goulding MAC lipstick in the shade Only You. I have done a whole post about this recently, but I decided to mention it in my favourites because it has been one of my favourite lip products this month. The shade is stunning and MAC lipsticks are my favourite lipsticks ever, so combined with Ellie Goulding who collaborated with MAC for the collection, it's a win-win!

My music favourite this month has been Coldplay's album A Head Full Of Dreams, specifically their singles A Hymn For The Weekend and Adventure Of A Lifetime. I love this album because Coldplay's music always makes me feel really good and happy, especially their recent singles. I'm not quite sure why this is but it means I have been listening to it a lot this month.

This month I have been loving the TV show Pretty Little Liars. I'm so late to the party with this one, I realise, but I have become hooked! I have just started season 5 so no spoilers please, but if you haven't already watched it I highly recommend it. I think season 3 has been my favourite so far, the plot twists were amazing!!

Ellie Goulding MAC Lipstick | Review

Friday, March 25, 2016

When I heard Ellie Goulding was collaborating with MAC for a collection, I was beyond excited. My favourite makeup brand working with one of my favourite singers? Yes please!

I saw her collection and I was very impressed. The range includes a blush and bronzer duo, eyeshadow palettes, and lipsticks to name a few. The collection is mainly beautiful nudes and neutral shades, including the lipstick I am talking about today.
The range sold out very quick, but I managed to purchase a lipstick in the shade Only You. I love how some of the shades are named after Ellie's songs, including Only You, a song from her Halcyon album. The lipstick is the darker of the two shades available - Without Your Love was a slightly lighter shade, but I went for Only You because it was more different to anything else I own already.

Only You is a beautiful pinky nude shade. The lipstick is more pink than the rest of my lipsticks, but I really like that. It is a cremesheen finish, so it isn't drying at all but I still think it is quite pigmented. The lipstick feels very creamy and lovely on the lips when applying. The shade definitely makes my lips much more pink but isn't overpowering.
The packaging of Ellie's collection is stunning! The products are in a glossy black packaging, so they stand out from MAC's normal matte black packaging. Ellie's logo is also on the products in a striking rose gold. I also love how her logo is engraved into the lipstick too, to add another touch of Ellie.

I am very impressed by Ellie's collection and I hope she collaborates with MAC again soon! I must try to get more products next time!

How I Take Blog Photos

Friday, March 18, 2016

One thing I love about blogging is taking and editing photos for my posts. Over the past year I have seen a huge improvement of my blog photos, so I decided to share how I take and edit them with you.

Step 1 - Take the photo! I take photos on my iPhone 6S. I do this simply because I find it easier, and because I also edit the photos on my phone. I take many different versions of the same photo, using different angles and props, so that I have many photos choose from.

Step 2 - Edit!  After choosing the bottom one of those four photos (there were many others that didn't take the cut too!), I need to edit the photo. The first way I do this is with the iPhone photo editor. I don't know many people who use this but I find it really useful and better than most apps from the store. It is built into the iPhone - you find it inside the photos app.
I first of all apply the 'fade' filter, and then go into the light & colour options and edit things such as brightness, contrast, highlights and shadows until I'm happy with how they look.
Step 3 - Snapseed: I then use Snapseed, an app I am currently obsessed with! I use this app to make my background look really white - which by the way, my background for all my product photos is just an piece of A3 white paper!
I go into the selective option and brighten up the white background. I also add contrast to some of the products, or turn the brightness down on them so they stand out. This app didn't take me too long to figure out (although was a little confusing at first) and it makes a huge difference to the brightness of my photo.

If I am using the photo as a header for my post, I then will go onto the app Phonto to add some text to it. Fonts I love to use include Market Deco and Sweet Pea. Then I am done!

I would love to hear the apps you use to edit your photos in the comments below!

A View Of London

Tuesday, March 15, 2016

On Friday I took a trip to London and took plenty of photos, so I decided to share them on my blog. I love to visit London and I wish I could more often!

My Tube Ticket. We took the underground to travel across London, and I can't say I enjoyed it - especially at rush hour!

Charing Cross Tube Station. One of the stations we changed at to get onto another line. I'm very glad I was with people who understand the different lines because I don't have a clue!

The Imperial War Museum. The first place we visited in London was the imperial war museum. It was very interesting so definitely worth a visit if you're into history.

Paintings in the museum.

M&M's World. M&M's World in Leicester Square was a fun place to visit, although the sweet smell does give you a headache after a while.

Purple M&Ms. The colour selection they had was incredible!

Fountains in the square. Trafalgar Square was bustling with people.

My View Of Big Ben. Walking past Big Ben, I had to try and get a photo, but most of them were blocked by people, so this was as good as they got.

Up The Eye! London Eye was a lovely experience on the sunny day I visited London.

A View Over London. It was hard to get a photo because of the sun, but the view was amazing.

Have you ever visited London? I would love to hear about your experiences! My trip was short but so enjoyable! My only disappointment was that I only got to spend quarter of an hour on Oxford Street while I was there but I hope to go back soon, London shops are my favourite!

The Lip Product Tag

Thursday, March 10, 2016

Recently I was tagged by the lovely Samantha of Blended To Perfection to do The Lip Product Tag. I haven't done a tag in what feels like such a long time, and the questions looked interesting because I am obsessed with lip products!

Here are my answers...

1. What is your favorite lip balm or treatment?
My favourite lip balm has to be the Maybelline Dr Rescue Baby Lips. I love the clear Too Cool one - I have to have it in my bag with me everywhere I go, I can't leave without it! It makes my lips feel super moisturised. If you like tinted lip balms, I love the Coral Crave shade of the Baby Lips Dr Rescue collection too.

2. What is your favorite eye-catching red?
I can't really answer this question because I am much more of a nude lipstick person! Red really is not the shade for me! On other people however, Rimmel 107 looks really good, as does MAC Russian Red. If I was a red lipstick lover, I would definitely purchase those 2 shades.

3. Best luxury and drugstore product? Also, best MAC lipstick?
My favourite drugstore product have to be the Rimmel lipsticks, especially the nude collection. My favourite is the shade 45. It is a really lovely, wearable colour and definitely one of my go to lipsticks. My best high-end lip product would either be Benefit's Benetint - a product I really need to use more because it is amazing! Or my favourite MAC lipstick, which is in the shade Patisserie. It is a beautiful nude, lustre finish lipstick and I love wearing it.

4. Most disappointing lip product?
I can't say I've tried many disappointing lip products! Perhaps the No.7 lip gloss I receieved in my advent calendar because I wasn't keen on the smell of it, it has a really unpleasant scent! I think that is just my lip gloss though, don't let that put you off! I must give it another go. I've tried a few disappointing lip balms over the past year because nothing compares to baby lips in my opinion!

5. Lip liner: yes or no?
I really like using lip liner but I always forget to use it! I should really remember to use it more, it makes my lipstick last so much longer

6. Favorite lipgloss?
I love the Bare Minerals Marvellous Moxie lip gloss. I own the shade Spark Plug and it is lovely! I don't wear lip gloss often because I hate it when my hair gets stuck to it, but I have to make an exception for the Bare Minerals lip gloss because it is amazing! I highly recommend it because it has changed my opinion of lip glosses!

Thank you so much Samantha for tagging me! Let me know your answers in the comments!
